ABSTRACT

Targets for the proposed Super-FRS at GSI

The proposed International Accelerator Facility at GSI will deliver beams of up to 1012 238U ions per second. These will be directed onto production targets at the new Super-FRS projectile-fragment separator. Two extraction schemes are foreseen, slow extraction for standard exotic beam experiments (beam pulses of several seconds) and fast extraction for injection into collector/cooler rings (beam pulses of approx. 100 ns). Possible target designs for both schemes will be discussed.
